In fact it is the same botanical species as the peach, although it has unique characteristics. Nectarines have smooth and shiny skin (no peach like hair), reddish color with orange or yellow hues, and have a firm pink, yellow or white flesh that easily detaches from the bone.
Its composition is very similar to that of the peach although they contain slightly higher amounts of some vitamins like provitamin A and vitamin E, and almo less of fiber and vitamin C.
